At seven, I was playing mom while owning a store and re:arranging furniture. At 14, I was still re:arranging furniture. Every Sunday night there would be an official unveiling ceremony and wonder that I had actually moved the bed yet again. My room was my first canvas - I could create, I could express myself, I could make it look just right. It was my sanctuary.
And nothing has changed. I have always needed a space of my own - for my sanity, my creativity, and my health. Now as an adult, a city dweller, as a wife and a new mom this need for sanctuary is even more profound and my crusade continues.
Today, I am still re:arranging furniture, looking for new ways to simplify and finding ways to make every space a haven. I am most happy when I am able to empower other women and moms, to think about where they live, work, relax, cook, love and sleep and then encourage them to proactively design their spaces in a way that fits with who they are and the life they lead.
Education/Thesis
I have a Master's Degree in Holistic Health Education. My graduate thesis, titled Living Environment: An Integrated Approach to Environmental Awareness to Help Maintain Personal Wellbeing explored the relationship between personal health and the built environment through a comparison of the Eastern practices of Feng Shui and Vastu. That comparison was used to create a Holistic approach to environmental design that can be incorporated into our Western lifestyle.
Work
My design and consulting work spans both the wellness and retail industries. My merchandising work includes projects with Anthropologie, Pottery Barn + Tommy Hilfiger.
